An unrivalled location on Scotland's north-west coast

With the opening of the Skye Bridge, Duirinish is located at the best cross-roads in the north-west Highlands and Islands. From here:

  • North takes you to Lochcarron, Poolewe, Inverewe Gardens, Gairloch, Ullapool, Assynt, Lochinver and beyond to stunning parts of the coast and country, where fewer visitors venture;
  • South leads across the Skye Bridge, down the Sleat Peninsula and across the romantic ferry to Mallaig, beyond which the white sands of Morar beckon, the Island of Eigg and the whole of Lochaber and Ardnamurchan - another world!
  • East leads you through the lands owned by the National Trust for Scotland, the Balmacara Estate, Eilean Donan Castle, the spectacular Five Sisters of Kintail, Mam Ratagan and Glenelg. Another hour and you reach Loch Ness, home to the legendary monster. Your return trip can bring you back by the family-run ferry boat to Kylerhea on Skye.
  • West across the Skye Bridge opens up an entirely new set of vistas and experiences on the spectacular Isle of Skye - the Cuillin mountain range, the fishing village of Elgol, a boat trip to Loch Coruisk, spectacular walks or drives around the Trotternish peninsula, a visit to Dunvegan Castle, a day trip to the national nature reserve on the Isle of Rhum, a side-trip to the Isle of Raasay and, for the more adventurous, a 2 or 3 day trip to the Outer Hebrides.
